Last time me and my wife of 13 years had a tiff (and that happened not so long ago), she came around saying that she would never understand me or what I want from her. Come to think of it, I could return the compliment verbatim to her. In any case it’s a woman’s privilege to be mysterious. Last year I suddenly started getting emails from paypal about reported misuse of my account. It all sounded mighty critical. I clicked on the link in one of the mails and was just about to login when good sense prevailed. It was a phishing attempt by someone who created a mirror login site for paypal and just wanted my login details. The same recently happened to a friend whose credit card details got phished on a fake bank login site. Today our identity, money, property is all mapped to a dozen passwords and PINs. Any unauthorized use of your personal information like your name, address, bank account number, credit card, social security number…all amounts to identity theft. The repercussion can be serious. According to a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) estimate 9 million people become victims of identity theft every year in the US alone.
